Figma

In 2022, I took the stage at Figma’s annual design conference, Config ↗, to address a challenge I’d been tracking since 2017: the notoriously complex UX of cryptocurrency products.

My goal was to demystify how the blockchain works for the broader design community. To my surprise, though perhaps less so given the NFT boom at the time, my application was accepted.
The highlight was collaborating with a storytelling specialist from Figma. Together, we spent weeks deep-diving into a variety of techniques to help frame my technical content.

I adopted the "Roller Coaster" framework to keep engagement through intentional emotional highs and lows. While typically used in the "Hero’s Journey," I found these narrative arcs were just as effective for technical communication.
By mapping blockchain concepts to this pattern, I transformed a dense, intimidating subject into an accessible journey for an audience of thousands.
This experience showed me that even technical work resonates more when it's told as a story.
I use these storytelling techniques in my daily work to make my shareouts more approachable.
